Recent Purchase Review
I'm not the first to say it and I won't be the last: being an adult is scary. College didn't prepare me for home maintenance or how to pay taxes or how to budget (what even is a 401(k)?). It's an intimidating world out there! Being an adult does have its occasional perks, though: first and foremost in my mind is having an income. Picking up my paycheck at the end of every other week is empowering and freeing - and, since I don't know how to budget, I can feel free to spend it all! ;) (Just kidding. Please budget and spend your money wisely. We can't all live like Carrie Bradshaw.)
But really though, I like knowing that I can rely on myself for all the things I want and need, and since I became gainfully employed a few months ago, I've had some extra spending money to treat myself to a few things I've been eyeing, so I thought I'd do a quick review of my favorite recent purchases!
I got this dress from Lou & Grey a month or so ago and am already living in it. It's soft, comfortable, simple, and easy to dress up or dress down. I've worn it for both lazy brunch with friends and client meetings and I can't wait to pair it with a scarf when the weather cools off. It's such an effortless piece and an instant staple in any closet.
I actually bought this Williams-Sonoma Pineapple Lemon Ancho cocktail mix for my dad's birthday, and I liked it so much that I bought some for myself too! It's a really unique flavor and is a perfect addition to tequila or vodka. My dad also tried it in rum and liked it, so if that's your thing, go for it. Williams-Sonoma has a few other flavors of mix too - Pomegranate Blueberry, Blood Orange Lemon, etc - that I can't wait to try. These also make great gifts!
I bought this really cute Rifle Paper Co weekly planner from Anthropologie to supplement my large Kate Spade planner. Whereas the latter is better for work, social events, and other major things to remember, this is a better option for smaller things like meal planing and daily to-dos. I love how cute and convenient it is!
I'd seen this rosy-pink polish from Essie a few times and loved it. but it seemed like I could never find it when I actually went out to buy it. I finally stumbled upon it again and snapped it up right away! It's pretty much my favorite color and looks really pretty on - a little darker and more rosy than it looks in the picture above. It's a fast favorite and, warm as it is, works for all seasons.
I bought this S'well bottle for my mom's birthday and I've already decided that I need one too! To be honest, I mostly bought it for her because its her favorite color; I didn't really believe the hype or the claim that it keeps hot drinks hot for 12 hours and cold drinks cold for 24, but according to my mom, it's all true. She filled her S'well with ice water, took it to work, left it in the car all day (in Texas in August) and reported that it was still icy when she came back out! It seems too good to be true.
