J Crew Fall 2016 Wishlist

Will graduated from college last week, so the past week has been one of celebration! (That explains, in part, my brief post hiatus - I'm terrible, I know.) He received several gift cards to his favorite stores so that he can start stocking up on work clothes, and of course, as his girlfriend, it was my duty to tag along and window shop.

Clothing-wise, Will and I are basically the same person. We have the same taste in nearly everything, to the point that we can say, "Pick out something I would like" and the other person knocks it out of the park pretty much 100% of the time. That makes shopping together really fun, so obviously I was doubly thrilled when he wanted to go to one of our very favorite stores: J Crew.

I love J Crew's clothes and accessories all year long, but there's just something extra special about their fall and winter collections. As soon as summer starts winding down, I start dreaming of structured wool dresses and colorful cashmere, and who does them better than J Crew?

Since I'm still feeling really inspired by (and lusting after) J Crew's fall offerings, I wanted to do a quick roundup of some of my favorite looks. Here are the pieces I'm hoping to add to my wardrobe this season.

I'm obsessed with this romantic ruffle-sleeved top. It also comes in white and, full disclosure, I tried it on and it looked like a shapeless paper bag on me but I think I just needed a smaller size. Because of this, my advice is to go a little under size - and who doesn't mind that?

Obviously off-shoulder tops are huge right now, and I love this take on it. It's a little more covered and therefore more appropriate for conservative workplaces, but it still has that easy-breezy feel of the typical off-shoulder.

I can't wait to add this dress to my work wardrobe! It's simple and professional but the ruffles on the shoulders still give it a fun twist. This dress comes in black, light grey, and navy as well, but I love the bright red.

This sweater is definitely on the pricier side at $300, but isn't it so cute? I love the mix of two traditional sweater prints; apart, they're very much expected, but together they make something unique and effortlessly cool. I just want to drink wine on a cloudy beach in this sweater.

Is this print not amazing? It's called "Midnight Unicorn" and it's part of the Drake's partnership, and it looks like a medieval painting. I don't know if I personally could pull it off, but for the brave fashionista, it's pretty A+.

I love, love, love the simplicity of this dress, which also comes in charcoal and black. It's effortlessly chic and is perfect for work, a dinner date, or a wedding. Plus, given how neutral and unfussy it is, you can accessorize it pretty however you want.

I'm all about these wool sneakers. Cozy, casual, and yet still super cool - what's not to love?

I'm a sucker for all things tortoiseshell, so of course this necklace is no exception. I love all of J Crew's recent link-themed jewelry; I persuaded my mom to get a few from the summer collection for herself, and I have my eye on several more from this season.

Last but definitely not least, this dress. I told myself I was strictly window shopping and wasn't going to buy anything, but I couldn't help falling in love with this dress. It has a really tiny pattern (you can see it better in the link) of red, white, and navy and it's so understated yet cool. I'm already looking forward to my next work meeting so I can wear it!
