My Circuit Workout

I have physical therapy every Monday and Wednesday morning. It's hard and super uncomfortable, and I'm lucky to be able to work from home a lot because I typically spend most of the rest of those days in bed. For a while I dreaded the workouts and stretches they make me do, but then I started to realize something really exciting: I was losing weight! After only a few weeks I've lost six pounds without making any other noticeable changes in my lifestyle.

This was a huge boost in my confidence and my attitude toward physical therapy. I did ballet for ten years and walked at least a mile a day in college, and since my car wreck I haven't been able to walk long distances, run at all, bend over, lift anything over 10 pounds, or overexert myself in any way. Obviously this has really cut into my gym routine from the summer and, needless to say, I haven't exactly been losing weight.

Since I'm seeing results just from my physical therapy, I thought I would design a quick and easy workout around the stretches they have me do. All you need is a flat surface (bed, floor, whatever) and a set of super-light weights (mine are only 3 pounds).

50 jumping jacks
50 bicep curls
50 dead lifts
50 upright row
Rest 1 minute
bridge 3x10
dying bug 3x10
bird dog 3x10
pelvic tilts 3x10
Rest 1 minute
50 high knees
50 lunges
50 jump squats

How easy is that, right? It only takes me like fifteen-twenty minutes to go through the whole thing depending on how lazy I feel, and since my actions are so limited you can be sure it's not a hard workout! Obviously you can tailor how many of each thing you do and add/remove whatever you want to make it work for you. Coupling this with healthy eating and lots of water, it's a quick and easy way to keep your weight in check!
