ACL + Festival Essentials

Hey everyone! Sorry for the radio silence lately. I got unexpectedly swamped with work last week and then spent the whole weekend at Austin City Limits! It was the best weekend ever so I thought I'd talk a little about that, recommend some music, and give some insight into my festival essentials.

I love live music so I'm really lucky to be so close to the Live Music Capital of the World, and ACL is one of the best showcases there is. The line-ups are so great and offer a ton of variety so that pretty much anyone can find some bands they want to see. Here are the bands I saw, with a song choice from each set so you can check them out and see if you like them. My favorites are italicized.
- The Maccabees: Toothpaste Kisses
- Wolf Alice: Fluffy
- Leon Bridges: Coming Home
- Run the Jewels: Oh My Darling Don't Cry
- Tame Impala: Elephant
- FIDLAR: Max Can't Surf
- Unknown Mortal Orchestra: Swim and Sleep
- Father John Misty: I Love You, Honeybear
- TV on the Radio: Happy Idiot
- Modest Mouse: Float On
- Sylvan Esso: Could I Be
- Dwight Yoakam (grew up listening to him): A Thousand Miles From Nowhere
- Vance Joy: Riptide
- The Decemberists: Down by the Water
- Of Monsters and Men: Mountain Sound
- Hozier: Take Me to Church
- Florence + the Machine: How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful

While you're listening to those, I though I'd give a little look into how I pack for festivals. A lot of people take chairs, tents, umbrellas, selfie sticks, flags, hula hoops, and all kinds of other stuff, but different festivals have different rules on what you can bring so always check those out before you go! Here are my essentials:
- Purse via Michael Kors: the perfect size and weight for a festival. I carried it all three days and it was exactly what I needed.
- Sunglasses via Tory Burch: festivals are outside, enough said.
- Water bottle: it gets hot! Stay hydrated.
- Moisturizer with SPF: I forgot it on the first day and ended up with a Rudolph nose, so don't make my mistake!
- Chapstick: whatever keeps you feeling most moisturized. Color is optional.
- Sandals via Rainbow: your most comfortable shoes. If you're not walking, you're standing, and your feet need to last through the weekend. I can't tell you how many girls I saw carrying their high-heeled boots around by the end of each day.
- Outfit via keep.com for Full Tilt Vintage: this is a really great example of what to wear. Comfort has to win out; it's not a fashion show, it's a music festival, and you need to cover skin from the sun and keep yourself cool. There's a time and a place to wear your cute sundress and it's not at the edge of a mosh pit surrounded by 25,000 of your closest friends. Casual is not only smart, it's cute.

Hope you've found some new music you liked and gotten some ideas for your festival packing list! Have you been to any music festivals lately? Have any music recommendations? Let me know in the comments!
